Here are the events for this year, not only those of the ESU Loire Valley, but other associations too. We have everything from quizzes to hog roasts.

Congratulations to Anne Latrille for the winning picture in the January photographic competition for her photo “Waiting for Halloween”, and to Lis Eastham for her photo of a painting of the Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers, Les Trois-Moutiers, Vienne, which was placed second.

September 2023

Lunch and Treasure Hunt

Date: Sunday 24 September

Lunch venue: Les Cathédrales de la Saulaie

Time:  12h00

Cost of the meal for members: 27,80 € plus 6€ for an aperitif, wine and coffee

Cost for the Treasure Hunt: members 5 €, non-members 8 €

A chance to discover the secret treasures of the area around Doué-en-Anjou, starting with lunch.

All members, non-members, and friends, whether competing in the Treasure Hunt or not, are welcome to join the organisers, Dorothy and Colin Morison, for lunch in the spectacular surroundings of this troglodyte fouée speciality restaurant. 

After lunch, all those wishing to join the afternoon fun and learn more of the region at the popular annual Treasure Hunt, should meet at the Parking by the old railway station in Doué-la-Fontaine.

The object of the treasure hunt is for participants to exercise their skills in identifying objects of curiosity and historical facts and to have fun in discovering hitherto unknown villages and landmarks. 

A small prize will be awarded to members of the winning team.

Invitations have been circulated. Please ensure you return your Attendance Slip by Monday 18 September.

A string orchestra concert

Date: Tuesday 19 September

Venue: Chapelle des Ursules, 2 rue des Ursules, 19000 Angers

Cost: FREE, no registration is necesssary

This is a concert by the String Orchestra from the School of Art in Prague Taussigova, Czech Republic.

Under the direction of David Nečas, the young musicians will play a selection of music by Vivaldi, Mozart, Bach, Bizet as well as Dvořák, Brahms and Piazzola.
