Here are the events for this year, not only those of the ESU Loire Valley, but other associations too. We have everything from quizzes to hog roasts.

Congratulations to Yolande Powell for the first and third placed pictures in the January photographic competition for her photos “The castle in Autumn” and “Sunset over the Loire”, and to Jean-Paul  Paitreault for his photo of the Voiliers at Le Thoureil, which was placed second.

Hope to see you soon.

Full details will be circulated when they are available, but below are some provisional dates for your diary.

May Day walk

Venue: ‘le Prieuré’, just south of the D751 between St George-des-Sept-Voies and Gennessee

Date: Wednesday 1 May

Time: 10h00

Once again this year, Tony Oakley has kindly organised our traditional May Day Walk. By popular request, we shall follow the paths of last year’s autumn walk in and around ‘Le Sale Village’ near Gennes. All members, non-members, family, and friends are welcome to join Tony on the walk which will cover around 8 kilometres and will take us close to the Dolmen de la Bajoulière and two other Menhirs.

The walk will start at promptly at 10.00am. The meeting place will be at ‘le Prieuré’, just south of the D751 between St George-des-Sept-Voies and Gennes.

As always, Tony recommends walkers wear good shoes and sensible clothing and carry waterproofs in case of rain. Although dogs are welcome, their owners are urged to respect the country code, and to ensure they are kept on leads.

After the walk we plan a picnic lunch together near the meeting point. Members and friends who prefer not to walk are welcome to join the walkers for lunch around 12.00 to 12.30pm.

There are no tables in the vicinity of the priory, so those of you wishing to picnic please bring your own table and chairs. In the event of rain, there is a covered area near the door of the priory where people can shelter with some benches to sit on.
