The annual quiz was held this year together with the photographic competition on 15 February at the restaurant Le Bois de Delice in Chemellier. Twenty eight persons attended, to exercise their brains in answering the sixty tricky questions set by John Curd, the quiz master for the event. Well done John.

Before proceedings commenced, each lady present attending was given a rose to commemorate St Valentine’s Day and a bouquet presented to our president Edith Prunier.

Five teams battled it out for the honours. The team comprising of John Barritt, Lynn and John Turnbull, Peter Clarke, Roy and Yolande Powell & Edwin Unsworth who we welcomed for the first time were the winners, even though an over zealous judge deducted numerous points for spelling mistakes!

We were all treated to an excellent meal beautifully laid on for us by the owner and chef of the restaurant, Sebastien Chalumeau and attended to by two very able assistants. Our sincere thanks to all of them.

This year’s photographic competition hit a new high with 21 photographs being entered, all taken by our members. The quality of each exhibit was extremely high and the voting very close. As customary all those who attended voted for their choices.

The winning photograph was of the chateau of Saumur exhibited by the Powell’s. The runners up were:

The above four photographs will adorn the front page of our web site this year. Congratulations to the winners and our thanks to all the other exhibitors.

A vote of thanks was given by our evergreen Terence O’Hara.
