The treasure hunt, which was organised once more by Terence O’Hara, started in the car park of the Hyper-U in Mûrs-Erigné - report.

Despite the threat of rain, sixty two members and guests assembled for our fourth annual Hog Roast in the beautiful gardens of our Vice President Julie and her partner Gilles - report.

The July meeting took place on Saturday the 13th July at the restaurant “Les Bateliers”, Hôtel de la Loire, in Trélazé. In addition to a most enjoyable meal, twenty-five members and friends present were privileged to meet Oana Bucescu and hear talk about her trip to China - report.

Edward and Jane Towne, Jane Reid and Ann Armstrong, our friends from the ESU London Region committee, visited the Loire Valley branch of the ESU over the weekend of 28th to 30th June - report.

Lunch at Le Petit Blaison was followed by visit to Vilmorin-Mikado; their operation in La Menitré is especially dedicated to the vegetable and tree seed business for the professional market - report.

The ESU International Public Speaking Competition is the largest public speaking competition in the world, currently involving over one million students in more than fifty countries - report.

As usual,Tony Oakley organised the May Day walk. A little after 10am, thirty four people and four dogs set off from the car park in Chênehutte - report.

The AGM 2019 took place at the Domaine de Presle, at Distré, Saumur, Saturday 13 April. There were 35 members present and apologies were received from a further 25 members - report.

Between 22nd and 25th March 2019, Oana Bucescu was given the opportunity to participate in the "The Belt and Road Youth English Speaking Competition", which took place in Hangzhou, in China - report.

The winner of the ESU National Public Speaking Competition, Saturday 23 March 2019, is a young lady called Eve Bertevas. Eve is a student at the Lycée Joachim du Bellay in Angers - report.

It had the start of a good day when on 16 March, 24 members and 4 guests met at Le Relais d’Orgement for the illustrated talk by Curtis Young. A laureate of the Châteaubriand Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences and a professor of American Literature at ESSEC, Curtis had travelled from Paris to speak to us - report.

Three things contribute to the success of our annual quiz: a lot of noise, a good meal and plenty of fun. Again this year, the thirty four members and friends present weren’t disappointed on any of these three counts. The good meal served to us Saturday 16th February was most definitely accompanied by a great deal of noise and an abundance of fun for all to share - report.

Our first meeting of the year took place at the “Hotel du Parc” in Saumur on the 19th January 2019. Our speaker, Alison Morton, gave a fascinating talk about her Roma Nova thriller series - report.
