Introducing us

The English-Speaking Union is an international charity that aims to promote "global understanding through the shared use of the English language." The ESU promotes a variety of activities such as debating, public speaking and student exchange programmes, conferences and seminars. It offers scholarships to encourage the effective use of the English language around the globe.

A message from Margaryta Danilko, the new President of the International Council.

The Loire Valley branch of the ESU provides a range of opportunities for those in Anjou and surrounding regions who are interested in the English language as a medium for international communication and friendship. The branch's Annual General Meeting took place at the restaurant "Le Buisson" in Trelaze on the 22nd April, 2017 - details.

The branch organises social events throughout the year, including barbecues, quizzes and treasure hunts, that help non-English speakers to become familiar with English language. These events are held at monthly intervals at a variety of different locations within the area; guests and non-members are welcome at these events. In addition, we are involved in funding school debating and public speaking competitions.

Additional information can be obtained from info@esu-loire-valley.fr and a copy of the membership application form from here. Anyone who spends less than six months a year in the Loire Valley area may apply for Associate Membership.
